The Royal Meteorological Society is a long-established organisation based in the UK that promotes the understanding of weather and climate. We support anyone with an interest in the subject, whether that’s through a personal interest or their professional work.
The Society operates independently as a charity and has an important role to play internationally as one of the world’s largest meteorological societies. Our mission statement is “To promote the understanding and application of meteorology for the benefit of all."
Our membership is open to everyone and anyone with an interest in weather and climate, whether that be as a science, profession or interest. We have over 3,300 members from more than 50 countries that includes academics, scientists and professional meteorologists as well as students and keen weather enthusiasts.
The programmes of the Society are broad and diverse, with many activities accessible not only to members, but also to the general public and the wider meteorological and climate community.
